*Dave said all of this and i agree*
Through the draft and in-season pickups, more players are added here than dropped. In the long run it may end up being a problem with player inflation. I thought of an idea to help with the growing player pool here. This is merely a suggestion and the details can be hammered out in time.
Practice squad would be limited to 1st and 2nd year players.
Every team would be able to have a "X" amount of players to put on the practice squad.
Players on the practice squad would not consume a roster spot or be counted against the cap.
All players on the practice squad can be "activated" and put on a teams roster at any time. They will then assume a roster space and then be counted against the cap.
Since the players in this squad do not count toward your cap you may drop them for free at any time.
Once on the active roster, a player can not be put back on the practice squad until the offseason.
Players acquired through the season may not be added to the practice squad until the offseason.
The offseason before their 3rd year, the owner has the option to either cut him with no penalty or put them on their active roster. If an owner opts to cut the player, it must be done before NFLD free agency begins.
UDFAs/Free Agents with contracts above "X" may be on the practice squad but can not be dropped for free. This is to discourage reckless free agency bidding.
Your practice squad will need to be finalized before the first regular season game.
------------------------------------------
Having a practice squad will make 4th and 5th rounds picks more valuable.
Low risk/high reward.
It will encourage players to take chances on players.
*WE WILL DETERMINE THE "X" AMOUNT OF PLAYERS ALLOWED ON PRACTICE SQUAD IN A NEW POLL IF THE MAJORITY VOTES YES*
