This week a great superpower faces off against a pathetic also-ran in the NFC playoffs. I'm talking, of course, about the Cowboys-Eagles showdown. I would like to take this opportunity to use this match-up to illustrate that fact that this league has an issue with unbalanced teams and that something must be done about the gross gap between the elite teams and the mid-range teams.
Exhibit A: My 8-3 lifetime playoff record vs. Kenton's 2-3 lifetime playoff record. 2-3 is pathetic by any metric, but when you stop and realize that he stumbled to that awful mark in the NFC, it reaches a new level of dreadfulness. My 1-0 record in NFC playoffs is enough to show that this is a mismatch, forget about my 7-3 record in AFC playoff games. You know what Kenton's playoff record would be in the AFC? It would be 0-0. He would finish last in that conference every single year.
Exhibit B: My 2012 NFLD Championship vs. Kenton somehow never even making it to the Superbowl. How sad can you get? Shane would have made the Superbowl on the NFC side at least twice by now. A match-up of champion vs. non-champion is just too lopsided. It's not good for the league.
Obviously I could go on and on, but I think we can all agree that we need to try to make this league more competitive. In the second round of the playoffs there shouldn't be any walkover match-ups. But winners win and losers lose, there is no reason to think this week will be any different. The Eagles-Cowboys match-up might as well be an Alabama-UAB match-up. And I think we all know who would win that.
Roll Tide.
(PHI wins 193-178)
