Hey guys these are the rules for Tender contracts for those that are asking...
A player is given a tender when then are a Restricted free agent (RFA), which means they have played more then 3 seasons in the NFL but they are not a five year vet. (once players get five season under there belt they are Unrestricted free agents (UFA)
Each Tender contract is a one year deal set a predetermined level. The NFL does this for teams that want to keep players on there rosters, but do not want to sign them long term.
On Rotoworld for some players it will say something like this:
Roman Harper- 2010: Restricted Free Agent (First-Round Tender)
What this means is that the team is placing a first round tender on the player. The dollar amounts are below.
Player with FOUR Accrued Seasons
Tender amount Type of Tender
$3,168,000 First- and third-round draft picks
$2,521,000 First-round draft pick
$1,759,000 Second-round draft pick
$1,176,000 Used for any tender type thats not listed above
Player with THREE Accrued Season
Tender amount Type of Tender
$3,043,000 First- and third-round draft picks
$2,396,000 First-round draft pick
$1,684,000 Second-round draft pick
$1,101,000 Used for any tender type thats not listed above
In the Roman Harper example above, his contract value would be $2.521 Million (2010), This is because he is a four year vet and he had a 1st round tender placed on him.
So to figure out what tender amount to pay a player, just find how many seasons they have played, look what type of tender was placed and then you got your 1 year contract value.
On some rotoworld pages a player will be called a Exclusive Rights free agent, This means that they have played less then three seasons. They can only sign with the team that tendered them and only for a veteran minimum. This is usually for undrafted free agents. Again the contract is one year. To figure out their salary, Just look at this chart:
Minimum Salary for League Year (From NFL)
Years of exp. 2010 2011 2012
0* $325,000 $340,000 $355,000
1 $400,000 $415,000 $430,000
2 $475,000 $490,000 $505,000
3 $550,000 $565,000 $580,000
4–6 $635,000 $650,000 $665,000
7–9 $760,000 $775,000 $790,000
10 + $860,000 $875,000 $890,000
*= Only use when dealing with undrafted rookie, otherwise use Rookie wage scale.
Note:
These rules only apply to this year for figuring out tender amounts for players on our teams and to figure out salary amounts from Rotoworld. These ruled do not cover Free agency. This is only for tendered contracts. These rules only apply to Tender contracts for this year only. More on free agency later.
